American Nazis

We have history all wrong if we think that Nazi ideas have taken over the country. If we examine the historical timetable, we find that the Nazis built on ideas that were developed or perfected in the United States.

1. Lebensraum? Analogous to Manifest Destiny.
2. Extermination camps? Think Trail of Tears and reservations.
3. Master race? Rockefellers and others funded eugenics research and forced sterilization of “undesirables.”
4. Destruction of culture? Native Americans.
5. Use concentration camp detainees as slave labor? We had 250 years of slavery.
6. Wiping out all traces of cities, towns, and rural lands? Sherman’s march to the sea.
7. Gas chambers? One of our methods for capital punishment.
8. Technology to “improve” murder? Nazis used IBM technology to help locate undesirables. DHS uses Palantir’s computer technology to do the same thing.
9. Erase Jewish influence in science, academia, religion, and the wider culture? That was a Nazi project, one that has been taken up by Christian Nationalists.
10. Mass extermination? We have not yet taken that step. As of now, we export undesirables overseas where they can be tortured.
11. Create feeder camps to speed up deportations (and possible exterminations)? The Nazis had thousands of camps that fed a steady supply of victims for its killing centers. A recent Washington Post article said that ICE wants to “speed up deportations by establishing a deliberate feeder system…. Newly arrested detainees would be booked into processing sites for a few weeks before being funneled into one of seven large-scale warehouses holding 5,000 to 10,000 people each, where they would be staged for deportation.”
12. Destroy German society to “save it”? That seems to be what the Trumplicans are trying to do.
    

Both Nazified Germany and Trumpified United States amassed power based on falsehoods. For the Nazis, the Jews, though they constituted less than 1% of the German population, were the source of Germany’s problems. In the United States, the source of all our problems are (pick one or more) “trans” people, CRT, DEI, Mexicans, any non-white immigrants, the Democrats and, especially, the Jews. We know how things ended for Nazified Germany. However, we do not have an external force that will de-Nazify or de-Trumpify our country. There will be no Nuremberg-like trials forced on us. It is up to us to de-Trumpify the United States. It is up to us to create Nuremberg-like trials. It is up to us to finally reckon with the ugly parts of our past while trying to preserve and improve what is good.
