We should no longer tolerate half-measures. We should no longer tolerate mealy-mouthed double-speak. We should no longer allow the centrists, who have delivered nothing, dictate how others should think and feel. The Suozzi Dems are like Puritans. They cannot tolerate the thought that someone, somewhere, might be enjoying life. The days of compromise are over. There is no compromise with evil. There is no 3/5ths compromise when people are stripped of their rights, when ICE shows up and demands that you remove an Instagram post, when children remain separated from their parents, when scientific research is brought to a halt (feel free to add to this list). Now is the time to summon that inner radical and express it in whatever way you feel is right. Admittedly, change is scary, but the choice boils down to this: do we allow others to dictate what that change will be, or will we dictate that change

P.S. I was eighteen years old when the country celebrated 200 years. I’ve seen the changes over the subsequent fifty years. The Republicans found the “winning” formula when Reagan invited Jerry Falwell into the White House, and the (A)Moral Majority got a taste of political power. Since that time, the Republicans have danced with the American Taliban and we now see the results. God, Guns, and Greed are killing us…literally.
